Adventures of a Fifth Grade Teacher

Math and science.

Although these subjects often seem glued together as mathandscience, it can be surprisingly difficult to connect them in the classroom.

As a Grade 5 teacher, I realized I was teaching the subjects in isolation. I challenged myself to gather online resources and technology tools that would help me (and let's be honest, force me to) connect math and science for my students.

I have organized these resources using the Common Core State Standards for Math and the Next Generation Science Standards.

This blog is for all the teachers who want to show their students just what happens when math and science get together. It's often pretty amazing. To quote William Blake:

To see a world in a grain of sand

And a heaven in a wild flower,

Hold infinity in the palm of your hand

And eternity in an hour.
