McDonalds Moves Toward Antibiotic-Free Chicken

This activity involves social studies, math and science! Using various operations, students establish the number of chicken on farms in 1925 and the present. They then determine profits for these times and analyze the data.
Ultimately, students are forced to consider the wisdom of raising and selling chickens raised on antibiotics. This helps them meet NGSS standard 5-ESS3-1, "Obtain and combine information about ways individual communities use science ideas to protect the Earth’s resources and environment."
Teachers would be well-served to have a class discussion related to their findings.
